What you will be working on
The Business Incubator and Accelerator Department (BIA) propels the development of new product ideas and business models by small competent cross-functional teams. We drive CPFB's innovation framework, including supporting the idea-to-solution journey, enhancing knowledge diffusion and evangelising technology adoption. This includes cultivating a culture of curiosity and proactive involvement among staff through a range of initiatives centred on innovation.
As part of the Products & Innovation team, you will work on docCentral — a Whole-of-Government document creation platform designed to streamline the process of generating documents. This role is both product-facing and technical, involving development, integration, and data-driven product improvements.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and prioritise product backlog items, ensuring technical feasibility of features and alignment with roadmap.
- Support development of new features on in-house products (e.g. analytics dashboards, content management systems), including hands-on coding using JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and Markdown.
- Conduct technical troubleshooting, bug replication, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
- Perform system integration assessments – evaluate APIs, document workflows, and advise on technical limitations or opportunities.
- Design and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans for new features, including test scripts and edge case scenarios.
- Carry out data analysis using structured/unstructured datasets to monitor adoption, generate performance metrics, and build data visualisations.
- Translate user feedback into technical specifications or feature proposals, bridging business needs with engineering constraints.

- Ability to perform data wrangling and visualisation (e.g. Excel, Python, R, or BI tools such as Tableau/PowerBI).
- Interest in system design, APIs, and integration testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design test cases, debug issues, and propose technical solutions.
- Curiosity in exploring new technologies, frameworks, and digital product innovation.
- Able to explain technical ideas in a simple way.
- Works well independently and with others, takes initiative without needing constant supervision.
Position is on a full-time internship basis from January 2026 to May/August 2026.
