What you will be working on

The Agency Schemes Governance & Planning Department (AGP) provides strategic oversight and drives agency transformation efforts, empowering the various delivery departments to sustainably and efficiently implement national schemes for the Government towards holistic and effective whole-of-government outcomes. AGP works with ministry principals, other public sector agencies, and internal stakeholders to coordinate scheme implementation, strengthen governance, drive business transformation, and develop data-driven solutions that improve operational effectiveness.

Within AGP, the Business Analytics (BA) team supports decision-making through data analytics, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The team leverages data to uncover insights, identify opportunities for optimisation, strengthen operational planning, and explore new technologies that enhance the implementation of citizen disbursement schemes.

As a Business Analytics Intern, you will get hands-on exposure to meaningful, real-world work from day one.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with real datasets — cleaning, analysing, and surfacing insights that can tangibly drive policy decisions and improve operational outcomes.
  • Translate business questions into data requirements and communicate your findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build reusable analytics resources and contribute to the team's long-term data capability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across functions to support ongoing projects and process improvement initiatives.

What we are looking for

We value the diverse skills and perspectives that each intern brings. While you may not need to meet every requirement fully, having some familiarity or budding expertise in the following areas will help you make the most of this opportunity and succeed with our team.

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with core data analysis concepts.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Power BI, or Databricks is an advantage.
  • Communicates clearly, both in speaking and writing, and is able to present data findings in a compelling and accessible way.
  • Approaches problems in a structured and analytical manner, with strong attention to detail.
  • Works well independently and with others, takes initiative without needing constant supervision.

Position is on a full-time internship basis from January 2027 to May 2027.
